A Monster Calls

Have you heard of A Monster Calls? I love a good fantasy movie especially when it’s not too scary. After all, who hasn’t dreamed of escaping into a fantasy world at least a few times in their lives? I know that I certainly have. I recently learned that A Monster Calls will be releasing in theaters on October 21,2016. After taking a look at the description, I’m adding this one to my calendar to watch if I can find it in my area.

A visually spectacular drama from director J.A. Bayona (“The Impossible”). 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall), dealing with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness, a less-than-sympathetic grandmother (Sigourney Weaver), and bullying classmates, finds a most unlikely ally when a Monster appears at his bedroom window. Ancient, wild, and relentless, the Monster guides Conor on a journey of courage, faith, and truth. Toby Kebbell plays Conor’s father, and Liam Neeson stars in performance-capture and voice over as the nocturnally visiting Monster of the title.

This is going to be a truly amazing movie. It is evidently based on a book written by Patrick Ness called A Monster Calls that was written in 2013. I checked it out on Amazon and it has great reviews. If the movie is anywhere near as good as the book, it’s going to be one you won’t want to miss. I didn’t see anything that showed what the rating is but if it’s promoted by Focus Features, it will probably be fairly family friendly. Plan on bringing the kids along!

Will this be a movie you look for? I know that I’ll be watching it as soon as I can.
