National Coloring Book Day Giveaway

Last Updated on December 29, 2017 by ellen

For all of my readers who enjoy coloring, you’ll be thrilled to learn that National Coloring Book Day is celebrated every year on August 2. While children have enjoyed coloring and coloring books for years, recently adults have gotten into the coloring craze as well. I’m sure that you’ve seen me write about my favorite coloring books several times over the last few months.

One of the keys to a stunning coloring book project is using the correct type of pencils. Legendary designer Louise Fili brings a sparkle to her stationery collection with a set of twelve double-sided pencils in six metallic shades. A shimmering twist on classic Italian packaging, Brillante is a companion to her bestselling pencil sets Perfetto and Tutti Frutti. This stunning new set is ideal for drawing, coloring, or writing and perfect for desktop display in a sturdy, elegant box. Thank you to the sponsor for providing a product and giveaway for this post.

Louise Fili is director of Louise Fili Ltd, a New York-based design studio specializing in logo, package, restaurant, and book design. Formerly senior designer for Herb Lubalin, Louise Fili was art director of Pantheon Books from 1978 to 1989, where she designed close to 2000 book jackets. Fili has taught and lectured on graphic design and typography, and her work is in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress, the Cooper Hewitt Museum, and the Bibliothèque Nationale. She is a member of the Art Directors Hall of Fame, and received the medal of lifetime achievement from the AIGA.

Fili is the author of Elegantissima, Grafica della Strada, and Graphique de la Rue, published by Princeton Architectural Press, and has co-authored The Cognoscenti’s Guide to Florence and Italianissimo. With her husband, the design historian Steven Heller, she is co-author of Italian Art Deco, British Modern, Dutch Moderne, Streamline, French Modern, Deco España, German Modern, Design Connoisseur, Counter Culture, Typology, Stylepedia, Euro Deco, Scripts, Shadow Type, and Stencil Type.

  1. My daughter has many projects in middle school and coloring & drawing pictures is a must. These pencils would be a great addition to make her pictures look really good.

  2. I do color in the adult “calming” coloring books and hope to hit the back to school sales for colored pencils. I’d love to win some quality pencils and have my sale pencils as back ups.

  3. I would like to use these colored pencils on one of those adult coloring books that I have been wanting to try out.

  4. I would like to win because I have recently discovered that coloring/drawing is really relaxing to me. It would be nice to have some “grown up” colors to work with!

  5. My whole family colors. I have my own adult coloring books and sometimes we even free style draw with pencils. This would help our family broaden their skills.

  6. I love to color. That Is What I Did With Both Girl Pregnancies As I Was In The Hospital On Bed Rest. Found it therapeutic and still do!!
