Making learning fun is one of the most important things that educators can do. When children see learning as boring or something that has to be done rather than something they want to do, it stops as soon as they aren’t required to do it. Lifelong learning is something we can all enjoy when it’s fun.

WordWorld Halloween Fun DVD
WordWorld is an entertaining television series designed to take children on adventures in a world of words where they can encounter all sorts of situations that can only be solved by building a word. WordWorld DVDs demonstrate the connections between letters, sounds, words, and meaning. This approach empowers children to advance from learning letters to learning how to read.
In the WordWorld Halloween Fun DVD, the WordFriends get their share of scares the night before Halloween when Pig walks in his sleep, and everyone thinks he’s a ghost! When the sun rises, it’s finally Halloween, Sheep’s favorite day of the year! Sheep likes nothing more than to dress up, so she always goes out of her way to make herself a special costume. When Sheep loses her magician’s top hat while practicing her magic act, the hat travels all the way around WordWorld, visiting Pig, Dog, and Duck, breaking into its letters each time it crashes to a halt! And whenever our heroes put it back together, the hat takes on a fresh, new form. Clearly this hat is special! Could it even be … magical?
There are five fun stories on the WordWorld Halloween Fun DVD:
- A Kooky Spooky Halloween
- Sheep’s Halloween Costume
- Dog’s Camping Adventure
- One Hat Fits All
- Nightlight
All of the episodes on the WordWorld Halloween Fun DVD are adorable and upbeat but I think that Nightlight was my favorite. In Nightlight, the WordFriends learn about N.I.G.H.T and see the night time routines of the different animals. Bear is afraid of the dark and has a nightlight. Unfortunately, her noise and her nightlight are keeping the other animals awake. The other animals try to help Bear fall asleep but she keeps trying to stay awake.
Not only is the WordWorld Halloween Fun DVD a great way to get kids familiar with words, it’s also a wonderful way for children to learn positive social skills.
WordWorld Halloween Fun is available now for the suggested retail price of $6.99 and includes about 60 minutes of programming.

I bet this little gem just makes kids grin. All the fun of halloween coupled with learning without all the spook. Way to go Wordworld
That’s definitely it, Shelley!
