Finding fun family game night games that older kids will enjoy can be challenging. Long gone are the days when we enjoyed games like Candy Land. Now that the kids are older, they want games that are more challenging and I want games that the whole family can enjoy.

While I enjoy games simply for the fun of playing them, it’s an added bonus when the game actually teaches a lesson or has a moral.  Of course, to keep the kids’ attention the game also has to be fun to play.  Wisdomantics (New King James Version) is an interactive DVD board game that blends chance, knowledge and strategy. It uses the proverbs of Solomon to teach families how to cope with different situations in a fun relaxed environment.

The game includes two interactive DVDs with 400 questions, score cards, blessing cards and more.  It’s intended for two to four players and ages 12 and up. The game is played along with the DVD. Players choose a question sequence  based on 2 DVDs with 100 questions on each side.  The question appears with a 30 second timer window.  If the player gets the right answer, they are directed to take an Advancement card which tells them where to move. If they don’t get the right answer, they are allowed a second attempt and then a final attempt before the next person gets their turn.

Depending on where the player lands on the game board, they will get a colored tile to put on their scorecard. Different cards will direct them to different spots on the game board. Different cards can be exchanged for different colored tiles. You win the game by collecting all of the tiles needed to build King Solomon’s temple by filling in your scorecard.

You can collect different cards to skip opponents or to avoid the Detention Chamber so there is an element of strategy involved in the game as well as learning.  The questions are multiple choice so it is challenging without being so difficult that you don’t feel like you can play. I love that you are allowed to have up to 3 chances to get the correct answer as well. My Bible knowledge is not always as good as it should be.

Wisdomantics Board Game is interactive which means that you need to use the DVDs along with the board game. You can play the DVDs on a DVD player and TV or you can play the DVDs on your laptop. I’ve found that kids really enjoy games that combine technology with traditional board games so this is a definite plus. If you are looking for a fun, interactive family game with family values, I definitely recommend the Wisdomantics Board Game. It really is fun for the whole family.
