Have you ever seen the Songs of a Lifetime PBS special? If you’re a Walt Disney fan, you have probably heard of Richard M Sherman. He was an American songwriter who specialized in musical films along with his brother Robert. Together, they did many of the Disney films that we all know and love including films like Marry Poppins, Charlotte’s Web, and Winnie the Pooh.

Songs of a Lifetime PBS Special
This Emmy® Award-nominated PBS special is a landmark solo performance by Disney legend Richard M. Sherman, whom with his brother Robert, composed some of the most beloved songs of all time. Richard is joined by a brilliant cast of performers, including the star of Broadway’s Mary Poppins Ashley Brown, as well as Juliana Hansen, Wesley Alfvin, and The Dapper Dans of Disneyland.
Special features included on this DVD include Behind-the-Scenes Photo Slideshow and Bonus Interview with Richard M. Sherman.
My thoughts:
I’m not a huge fan of biographies so I wasn’t sure what to expect with this title. Thankfully, it’s really more like people sitting around a piano talking and playing songs. I love that so many of my favorite classic Disney songs are included on this DVD.
I had the chance to watch and listen to Richard M Sherman perform songs like the Wonderful Thing About Tiggers, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. This show premiered on PBS in September of 2017 but if you didn’t have the chance to watch it then, you will want to pick up a copy of this on DVD while it’s still available.
