Mercy Rule is a baseball adventure for the whole family, starring Kirk Cameron and his wife, Chelsea. Parents and kids alike will be inspired by the story of the Miller family as they learn life’s lessons of mercy, patience, sacrifice, legacy and trusting God. Co-starring Bas Rutten and comedian Tim Hawkins and written by bestselling author N.D. Wilson, Mercy Rule will teach your family what it means to be a “No Quit Family.” The DVD also includes a family study guide for further discussion of the important messages in Mercy Rule.

John owns a salvage yard and is tricked into signing paperwork that declares his salvage yard to be handling hazardous waste. A corrupt eco-lobbyist is trying to bully him into signing over a portion of his salvage yard because of the paperwork he tricked him into filling out. John feels like he has ruined everything for his family but his wife stands with him during this time and encourages him to see things in a different light. He struggles with controlling his anger and resisting temptation during this difficult time.
While this is going on, John’s son, Cody is struggling with his baseball coach. He really wants to pitch but his coach won’t let him. Cody is more concerned with making himself look good rather than the good of the team. He wants to look good even if it isn’t in the best interest of his team and he needs to learn to put others before himself.
Both of them need to learn valuable lessons from the trials that they’re going through. The enclosed family discussion questions and study guide will help you work through those issues with your family. This is a great family Christian film that teaches some very important lessons. It’s not the type of Christian film where the characters pull out the Bible every 5 minutes and quote scriptures at each other. It’s the type of Christian family film that leads by example. I would say this is appropriate for about ages 10 and up. Younger kids may not understand the implications of what’s going on. Definitely highly recommend it.
