The civil rights movement is still very much alive today. I was born in the sixties and I didn’t really know much about the civil rights movement except for what was taught in schools. I’ve never seen a sit-in or a march or a demonstration. It’s more important to me what type of person you are than what you look like. I know that there are a lot of people who think differently now and in our history.

JFK & LBJ A Time for Greatness DVD
In many ways, President Lyndon B. Johnson was the most unlikely champion of Civil Rights. But his actions in the White House told a different story when he dared to champion two laws that changed America and the world—the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Now, fifty years later, JFK & LBJ A Time for Greatness DVD sheds light on the fascinating story of a president who knew how to harness the nation’s grief over John F. Kennedy’s assassination, twist arms, and get his way. The film includes rarely seen footage, secret White House tapes, and personal testimony from LBJ’s advisors, biographers, friends, and family.
I didn’t really know much about Lyndon B. Johnson. Of course, I knew about John F. Kennedy and his assassination. I remember learning about that in school. I had no idea that LBJ was Kennedy’s Vice President before he became president. I guess I missed that part of the lesson in school. I had no idea how instrumental he was in the Civil Rights Movement or the story behind his presidency.
Sometimes, historical DVDs can be difficult to follow but that definitely wasn’t the case with the JFK & LBJ A Time for Greatness DVD. The combination of real footage and interviews with people who lived through that time was extremely interesting. I learned a lot more about the Civil Rights Movement and it gave me a better understanding of what our country went through during that time period.
I really enjoy the documentaries that Morgan Freeman narrates so I was very pleased to see that he narrated this DVD. It made it all the more enjoyable.

I think LBJ has been rather forgotten in a way by history because of JFK. He was chosen as VP because of where he came from and no one expected him to be president but he surely rose to the occasion when he had to. He wasn’t a nice man but he did do some great things for this country.
That’s really true, Patty, and I had no idea before I watched the DVD.
