With our busy lives, it’s hard to get everyone together for some family time these days. But, I make sure that we still make time for our traditional “game night” each week. I feel it’s important to have some traditions like that to remember when they get older and maybe do with their own children too.

Battle Sheep Board Game

Battle Sheep Board Game

Blue Orange Games is a great company that has fun games, so when I was chosen to try the Battle Sheep board game, I was anxious to try it out with my daughter, Emily.

The game comes with four sets of different colors of sheep and a board that comes in pieces that players get to lay out in their own design and pattern. The object of the game is to make sure your sheep occupied the most pasture land. To start, you have to place your entire stack of 16 sheep on a starting hex. Then, when it’s your turn, you must split one of your sheep stack and move the top part in a straight line as far as it can go (before hitting another sheep or the border). The player who occupies the most pasture land wins the game.

Emily went first and spread out her sheep. Then, I went and the hubby last. The hubby got “blocked” first and was out of the game. We played several times and it’s very entertaining because it’s a different “board” every time you play. I would call this a real strategy to spread your sheep out the right way to make sure you don’t get blocked. You could really make up your own game with it as well if you wanted.

  3. What a fun game! I had a similar game growing up, except you had to tell a piece of a story every time you laid down a playing piece.
