About the book:

When Naomi’s sisters are snatched up to be taken to be wives of the erratic Pharaoh, Akhenaten, she knows they won’t survive the palace, so she offers herself in their place. The fearsome Commander Horemheb sees her courage, and knows she is exactly what he is looking for…

The Great Queen Nefertiti despises Naomi instantly, and strips her of her Hebrew lineage, including her name, which is changed to Kiya. Kiya allies herself with Horemheb, who pushes her to greatness and encourages her to make the Pharaoh fall in love with her. When Akhenaten declares Kiya will be the mother of his heir, Nefertiti, furious with jealousy, schemes to destroy Kiya.

Kiya must play the deadly game carefully. She is in a silent battle of wills, and a struggle for who will one day inherit the crown. If she does bear an heir, she knows she will need to fight to protect him, as well as herself, from Nefertiti who is out for blood.

Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh by Katie Hamstead

Kiya is really Naomi who is volunteers to be taken to Egypt in her sisters’ places. She is taken to become the lesser wife of Akhenaten and provide him a son. She is very much loved by Akhenaten but hated by his wife Nefertiti. Historically, it’s believed that Kiya is King Tut’s mother. Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh by Katie Hamstead is the story of Kiya as she learns to live in her new home in the Egyptian harem.

I love that Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh by Katie Hamstead was a combination of fact and fiction. It was so interesting to learn more about what life would have been like in that time period. I’m glad that the author chose such a strong woman as the lead in this story. Too many historical romances show women who cannot stand on their own two feet. It was very easy to picture what ancient Egypt was really like and the touch of romance included was just perfect. She managed to fit in while still holding true to her morals and beliefs which is a very admirable trait.

If you enjoy historical romances or are a fan of Egyptian fiction, you definitely want to read Kiya: Hope of the Pharaoh by Katie Hamstead.  I found myself unable to put it down because I was so interested in what would happen next.  Great all around read and I cannot wait for more from this author.

  1. I don’t know much about Egyptian fiction so this would be a fresh read for me and may hold my interest. I will look in my Kindle for similar topics–I bet I have some I haven’t even read yet!

  2. Thank you so much for taking part in the tour and giving such a great review!
