Love gets messy.
Financial problems, sickness, aging parents, a chronically unhappy spouse . . . trials will inevitably come that threaten your marriage. No matter how long you’ve been married or how strong your relationship is, sooner or later you are going to have a mess to clean up.
Messy Beautiful Love is about cleaning up messes God’s way, exchanging your ideas for His, and being prepared for both the best and the worst that marriage has to offer.
When you surrender your relationship to God, then and only then will you experience the blessing of marriage as He intended. This is the blessing of obedience.
Messy Beautiful Love is an invitation to that obedience. The cynical world says marriages don’t last, but God knows better. Tune out the world and tune in to Him. When you do that, a beautiful marriage is not only possible, it’s inevitable.
Messy Beautiful Love by Darlene Schacht
We don’t generally think of the problems we’ll have when we are planning our wedding or thinking of our marriage. If you’re anything like me, you had romantic ideas of love forever after, candlelight dinners, vacations for two and waking up next to each other forever. I never prepared myself for the reality of financial problems, sickness or arguing but those are just as much a part of marriage – if not more.
When I did have problems, what was my first thought? Fix it. Get him to change. Take control of the situation and change it. Of course, it didn’t work which frustrated me all the more. Messy Beautiful Love by Darlene Schacht talks about this exact problem and shares the solution. Surrender your relationship to God and let HIM take over. The author talks about what God intends for our marriages and offers prayers and advice that will help you get through the difficult times.
Messy Beautiful Love by Darlene Schacht is an inspiring read that’s real. She acknowledges that there are difficult times and that surrendering to God is far from easy. I love the saying that she uses that “The best things in life get messy before they get good.” because it’s true. Whether you’re in the beginning of your marriage or have been married for many years, Messy Beautiful Love by Darlene Schacht is definitely a book you need to read. I found it inspiring and uplifting.
Ellen is a mom of a 25-year-old son and 30-year-old daughter. She is Grandma to one adorable toddler. In what little spare time she has, she loves to read, watch movies, and check out the latest toys and games.
