Mina’s White Canvas by Hyeon-Ju Lee
Mina’s White Canvas is written by Hyeon-Ju Lee. Hyeon-Ju Lee is an author and illustrator from Korea and this is Lee’s debut book.
Mina’s White Canvas is a fun tale about the power of imagination. Bored of the gloomy day outside, Mina uses a magical crayon to brighten her world. Along the way, Mina meets several forest creatures who need her help. She uses her crayon to draw a ladder so Grandfather Woodpecker can climb down from his tree. She also creates a door for Mr. Bear to escape his cave, and draws socks for Miss Frog so that she can go in the snow.
By the end of the day, Mina brightens her world and the world of some of the new friends she meets along the way. If you have an artistic child, this book would be a perfect read for them. Mina’s White Canvas shows a child that you can create your own world through the power of imagination. This story also sends the message that you can use your strengths to help others. I really like the artwork in this book and so do the grandkids.
This is a perfect gift for a birthday or holiday. Just as children’s books should, this book guides a child to use their imagination to it’s fullness. Lee’s story also shows young readers the power of their own potential to make the world a happier place. Parents will love reading this uplifting story on a rainy/cold day and encourage them to use their talents to connect with the people around them. Adding Mina’s White Canvas to your children’s book collection would be a wise choice!
Ellen is a mom of a 25-year-old son and 30-year-old daughter. She is Grandma to one adorable toddler. In what little spare time she has, she loves to read, watch movies, and check out the latest toys and games.
Oh this reminds me of a childhood book that I loved called “Harold and his purple crayon”. If Mina’s White Canvas is like that, I am sure I would love reading this to youngsters
