3 Books With Simple Nature Artwork

Last Updated on September 3, 2022 by ellen

I have always been drawn to simple nature artwork and images. When I was in college, I took an art class. As part of the class, we visited museums and learned about famous artists. I have always loved fields of flowers and sunsets over the water. I find peace more easily when I see things like that.  Of course, buying artwork can be expensive and I’m not talented enough to paint a picture. Thankfully, I’ve found three books that contain simple nature artwork that I can color and hang.

Lisa Congdon created a series of books called Just Add Color. The series includes Arboretum, Wildflowers, Botanicals, Geometric Patterns, and Folk Art. For those interested in nature, you’ll enjoy Arboretum, Wildflowers, and Botanicals. Each of these three books has 30 original illustrations to color and 4 full-color images. After you color the page, you can easily frame and hang it. The books have perforated pages which make removing each page easy.

Arboretum has 30 original line drawings of animals, plants and gardening themes. The Wildflowers book has drawings of wildflowers and flowers you might find in the garden. I love that the flowers are identified in this book. The Flora and Fauna book is about animals, insects, plants, birds and even mushrooms.

Each drawing is on heavy quality paper and there’s only one per side. That means I can use my Sharpie markers and pens to color and not worry about it bleeding through. I can either hang them on the refrigerator to display or add them to a frame and use a mat. I can easily color the illustration and have it look beautiful enough to display.

Also, I’ve admired Lisa Congdon’s artwork online before and I love that I can color some of her drawings. She is such a talented illustrator and artist. You can see a few of her drawings and paintings below this post.
