Contrary to popular opinion, being “old fashioned” doesn’t mean you’re dull or unromantic. In fact, a true old-fashioned relationship can be more exciting and romantic than anything you’ve ever experienced! So what does it mean to do things The Old Fashioned Way? Sure, it means opening doors, holding out chairs, and taking things slow. But a true old-fashioned romance goes much deeper than that. Inspired by the motion picture Old Fashioned, this book will show you how to reclaim the lost art of romance by introducing you to romantic love as God intended it―for all of us. Regardless of your past experiences, where you’ve been, or where you are now, you can find and create a love that will last a lifetime.

The Old Fashioned Way is a devotional that goes along with the Old Fashioned on DVD and Old Fashioned Novelization. The Old Fashioned Way devotional is broken down into 40 days or chapters. Each day has a brief example and discussion of an idea to consider followed by a prayer and list of things to consider.
While The Old Fashioned Way is probably meant for those considering a serious relationship rather than those that are already married, I found a lot of valuable things to think about in my marriage. It’s really helpful to see if you both have the same ideas and goals about your relationship and where you want your relationship to go. It can also help you see that romance isn’t necessarily what today’s media leads us to believe. The art of chivalry and opening doors for your wife and learning to make God a priority in your life are still things that are important.
If you’re considering taking your relationship to the next level or would simply like an exercise that will draw you both closer to God, I recommend The Old Fashioned Way by Ginger Kolbaba.
Ellen is a mom of a 25-year-old son and 30-year-old daughter. She is Grandma to one adorable toddler. In what little spare time she has, she loves to read, watch movies, and check out the latest toys and games.
I like that this is in 40 days. That makes it manageable for me.
I would like to win because I am always looking for ways to strengthen my relationship with God!
