Thundered Hearts by Rae Z. Ryans
Beth is a Creek Indian Spirit Walker. Spirit Walkers control the balance between the worlds and can sense the Locha who are twisted and evil. Because of an agreement with the Mandate, Beth and other Spirit Walkers are no longer allowed to hunt. Her family controls her to keep her power weak so she doesn’t hunt the Locha as she was intended to do.
As a child, she was in love with Lucien who was sick and dying. He changed toward her and she began to hate him instead. Now, he needs her help and despite the way he treated her, she feels compelled to help him. She feels torn between what she should do and what she wants to do.
I found this story fascinating because of the magic and mythology that was woven into it. It was a wonderful combination of romance and fantasy that kept me engaged and interested throughout. You do need to pay attention while reading this story as there are a lot of details to pick up but it’s definitely worth it.

I love the inclusion of mythology. I find mythology fascinating and we have Native blood in our family.
It really is an interesting subject, Kathleen!
Lots of details to read here. Certainly lets you immerse yourself for a few hours of good reading. This is different from what I usually read. The Native American element does intrigue me though.
It really is a great book, Deb!
