Who else loves a good spooky story? I know I do! Don’t get me wrong. I don’t typically enjoy gore or slasher stories. I want something scary without being so terrifying that I won’t sleep at night. I found just the book to enjoy when I was offered The Crimson Tree by Valerie Puri for review.

The Crimson Tree by Valerie Puri
Disembodied voices. Apparitions. Waking nightmares. Strange occurrences are happening with increased intensity and Carly cannot escape what is tormenting her. With little proof and little support, she is losing everything in her life: her fiancé, friendships, and her sanity.
Can Carly uncover what caused the supernatural derailing of her life? Can she ever get rid of her ghostly tormentor, or is she doomed to be haunted indefinitely? Determined to stop these frightening events, she has to do whatever she can to regain control of her life before things take a deadly turn.
My thoughts
Carly is planning her wedding. Her life is perfect, and she and her fiance are very much in love. One afternoon, they stop for a picnic beneath a beautiful tree they come across in a field. After that, things start to get odd. In each photograph that’s taken of her and her fiance, their eyes are missing. It doesn’t matter where the photo is taken or with what camera. As if that isn’t bad enough, she starts seeing and hearing things and she and her fiance start arguing. She starts to think she’s losing her mind and needs to figure this out before it’s too late.
If you like paranormal stories, you need to read The Crimson Tree by Valerie Puri. In the beginning, it looks like Carly has a perfect life but very slowly everything starts to unravel. It’s only after the haunting becomes more obvious that you start to understand what’s going on, and I couldn’t put the book down as Carly tried to figure out what was happening to her life. With each page, the story just got more and more intense, and the ending of the book left me hoping that the author will have another book to follow!
Ellen is a mom of a 25-year-old son and 30-year-old daughter. She is Grandma to one adorable toddler. In what little spare time she has, she loves to read, watch movies, and check out the latest toys and games.
I dont care for spooky stories too much. I would have bad dreams.
Oh no!
I used to read scary books when I was a teen but I just can’t handle them anymore, I’m a big scardy cat!
LOL I still enjoy them!
I’m picky when it comes to spooky stories since I need them to have a good plot and not just be gore. I think this sounds like it has good depth to it. I’ll have to add it to my list!
Hope you enjoy it!
