Duct Tape Mania by Amanda Formaro
I must live under a rock, because I did not know that you can craft with duct tape. I thought duct tape was just used to hold things together that you were too lazy to fix. So, you could imagine my surprise when I read through the book, Duct Tape Mania. This was created by a very crafty lady, Amanda Formaro. It contains plenty of duct tape projects for both boys and girls. I love how the pages have easy to see step by step instructions for every project. As with all her books, she always throws in fun facts and trivia throughout the book. I love that!
Now I know what all those neat designed duct tapes at the store are for-I didn’t think people cared if their leaky pipes had bright yellow smiley faces on them, but what did I know? I think I was just as excited as my daughter Emily was to make a project. Of course, we had to run to the store first to pick up some cool duct tape rolls. What to make first? Soooo many choices! Here are some duct tape projects:
- bracelets
- bows
- flowers
- tote bags
- frames
- glasses cases
- bookmarks
- banners
We decided to start with some bows. We have a photo shoot coming up, so a couple of cute bows would be perfect for her. The directions were easy to read and we finished rather quickly, which I liked because that meant we could make more things-I was becoming a duct tape junkie real fast!
Next, we were on to create some very cool bracelets for her and her best friends. You can never have too many bracelets. Am I right? There were different styles, so we chose to make the friendship bracelet. Once again, great instructions and before we knew it, we had five made.
This is a great book for any parent looking to spending an afternoon together having fun creating all sorts of duct tape projects with their child. Emily is already making plans to get more duct tape rolls and inviting her friends over for a duct tape party. Maybe if I ask nicely, she will let me join in too!
Ellen is a mom of a 25-year-old son and 30-year-old daughter. She is Grandma to one adorable toddler. In what little spare time she has, she loves to read, watch movies, and check out the latest toys and games.
I’m lovin’ this book! I’ve made a small wallet from duct tape and have a freebie duct tape craft ebook on my Kindle but wishlisted this one too. The bow tie is a cutie. Do you think a little boy would wear that?! Just plain fun.
What a neat book. It’s amazing what you can make. My son would love this.
