About the book:
What does it mean to be brave? This is the question Caden must answer as he accompanies Thea, Ben, Rain, and Naomi back out under the dark clouds of the canopy, to rescue Viv from the deadly shadows and save a shattered Earth from the brink of destruction. Caden’s lazy, arrogant nature is tested as the group draws closer to finding Viv, forcing him to confront his inner demons and admit his feelings for Thea—even as their relationship is threatened by her ever-growing connection to Ben.
Will Caden discover his true potential? Or, when the group uncovers a devastating secret and faces a betrayal that has the power to turn the tide in the war with the shadows, will he abandon his friends and go back to a life of never-ending darkness?
Find out in The Gray Horizon, the exciting, action-packed sequel to The War Inside.
The Gray Horizon by M. Kircher
After abusing the Earth for many ears, the Earth is a shell of what it used to be. Smog and pollution cover everything and nothing grows. People are mean and distrustful and live in small groups away from each other. Most of the animals are extinct. The soil is ruined. Simply surviving takes all of your effort and no one helps anyone else.
The Gray Horizon is Book 2 of The Horizon’s Trilogy. You can read my review of Book 1 (The War Inside). Book 2 picks up where Book 1 left off. Viv has just been taken by The Shadows and Thea and the rest of her friends must find her before it’s too late. Thea dreams of how The Shadows are torturing Viv as they take her to The Ancient One. They know they have to hurry if they’re going to save her. Viv holds the secrets to defeating The Ancient One but she isn’t ready yet to defeat him and The Shadows. If she doesn’t stop him, he will destroy everything.
I really enjoyed The Gray Horizon. The characters learn to work together more than they did in the first book and the relationship between Thea and Caden starts to develop a bit more. Like the first book, The Gray Horizon is loaded with adventure and I could not stop turning the pages to find out what happened. While you don’t need to read the first book to enjoy The Gray Horizon, I would recommend that you read both so that you understand all of the details. I cannot wait to read the third book!
Ellen is a mom of a 25-year-old son and 30-year-old daughter. She is Grandma to one adorable toddler. In what little spare time she has, she loves to read, watch movies, and check out the latest toys and games.
Well we are not far off from environmental disaster here in L.A. with all this smog and pollution. Now an awful drought. Well I can certainly relate to this book’s theme, so thumbs up from me and hope I get to read it.
Totally agree, Deb! It is very similar in some ways.
