The summer can be loads of fun but at one point or another, the kids are probably going to tell you how bored they are. Sometimes, it’s all about doing something different. It’s about challenging them to be creative and learn new skills. Of course, you want them to have fun doing it. Learning can be fun with the right tools and ideas. This post contains affiliate links.

Each month, they send out a themed box filled with investigations that are fun and hands on. The investigations culminate into an Engineering Design Challenge, where your STEMists must apply what they’ve learned from the investigations (and use their critical thinking skills) to complete the challenge. The boxes contain everything you need to complete all of the activities, including a groovy retro-themed lab notebook. The box activities are supplemented with their Beyond…in a Box web portal where your children will find videos, interactives and additional activities. Head over to Groovy Lab in a Box’s website to learn more about this great service!
Good luck! I hope you win!
Ellen is a mom of a 25-year-old son and 30-year-old daughter. She is Grandma to one adorable toddler. In what little spare time she has, she loves to read, watch movies, and check out the latest toys and games.
I’m really going to make an effort to change how my kids play to efforts that don’t involve a screen. This sounds perfect!
It can be a challenge!
I’ve always been interested in Groovy Lab in a Box. Thanks for the heads up on the giveaway!
Thanks, Jess!
Kids always get bored so quickly during the summer! Looks like a great way to keep them busy!
Definitely would be!
This is so cool! My niece would love this. She is such a hard core scientist already.
I’m sure she would!
My niece and nephews would love this! It would also keep them busy over the summer!
So much better than “I’m bored!”
This is SO fun! I would have loved it as a kid. I currently work one on one with blind and visually impaired students and I’m sure there are some boxes that they would love!
I’m sure there are, Robin!
Sounds like an awesome idea! I wish they had these for my son’s age. He is 6, but I feel like he would like something like this!
I’m sure he would!
What a fun box! My kids would LOVE this! Thank you, I am going to see about getting them a subscription!
I’m sure they’ll enjoy it!
That looks like so much fun!! My son is 15, do you think that he would still enjoy it?
I think I’d enjoy it!
