Ingredients for Halloween cookies

This is what you need to make the cookie dough.

1 C unsalted sweet cream butter 

2 C flour 

1 tsp baking soda 

½ tsp kosher salt 

¾ C sugar 

¾ C light brown sugar 

1 large egg 

2 tsp pure vanilla extract

  • Using a small pot, cut the butter into tablespoon slices and place it into the pot. Place the pot over medium heat and whisk occasionally. 
  • Once the butter has melted, it will begin to foam. Continue occasionally whisking After about 8 minutes, the butter will begin to get little brown specs
  • Remove the butter from the stove top, then set it aside to cool for about 10 minutes.
  • Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to a medium-sized glass mixing bowl and whisk to combine.
  • Add the sugar, light brown sugar, and browned butter to a stand mixer with a paddle attachment.
  • Mix on medium speed until thoroughly combined, light, and fluffy.
  • Add in the egg and vanilla and mix until combined.
  • Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix on medium speed until a soft dough has formed.
  • Add 1 cup of Halloween sprinkles into the cookie dough and carefully mix the sprinkles into the dough on low speed.
  • Use a small cookie scoop to measure approximately 3 oz of dough into your hands and roll it into a ball.
  • Place the rest of the sprinkles into a small bowl.
  • Take the cookie dough ball and roll it in the sprinkles.
  • Place the dough ball onto the cookie sheet and lightly press down into a thick disk.
  • Bake in the oven for 13-15 minutes or until firm around the edges but soft in the center. They should be golden brown.
  • Remove the cookie sheet from the oven and allow it to cool completely.
