Have you ever watched The Last Ship? Marty and I love science fiction and dystopian type programs so The Last Ship is definitely a series that we enjoy. Have you seen it yet? If you haven’t, I’ll give you a brief introduction. The Last Ship is a post-apocalyptic drama that takes place after a global virus pandemic wipes out most of the world’s population. The crew of “the last ship” needs to find a cure for the virus and figure out how to stop it to save the world.

The Last Ship: The Complete Second Season
On The Last Ship: The Complete Second Season, Captain Chandler and the rest of the crew set out to disseminate the cure for the Red Virus, which paleo microbiologist Dr. Rachel Scott developed. As they head back to U.S. soil to seek survivors and find their families, they encounter a new, emerging enemy who is vying for control and may hinder the mass production of the cure.
Based on William Brinkley’s popular novel, The Last Ship chronicles a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoided falling victim to the devastating tragedy. But now, Captain Tom Chandler (series star Eric Dane) and his crew must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors. The Last Ship stars Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy), Rhona Mitra, (Strike Back) Adam Baldwin (Firefly, Chuck), Charles Parnell (Pariah), Travis Van Winkle (Heart of Dixie), Marissa Neitling (Leverage), Christina Elmore (Fruitvale Station), Jocko Sims (Masters of Sex) and John Pyper-Ferguson (Unforgiven).
The Last Ship is produced by Channel Road Productions, TNT Originals and Platinum Dunes, along with its partners, blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay (Black Sails, Transformers), Brad Fuller (Black Sails) and Andrew Form (Black Sails), who are the series’ executive producers. Co-creators and showrunners Hank Steinberg (creator of Without a Trace, The Nine) and Steven Kane (The Closer) also serve as executive producers, along with Jack Bender (Lost).
The Last Ship: The Complete Second Season has three discs and is 572 minutes (over 9 hours) of programming. The special features include Inside the Episode, Exclusive Look, The Making of Season 2, and Vulture Team Featurette. If you enjoy The Last Ship, you’ll definitely want to buy this to add to your collection. We loved being able to rewatch a few of our favorites from this season.

I’ve not seen this since I don’t get TNT. I’ve been enjoying the old Stargate Universe episodes they brought back on the new Comet network. Pinning this for a future purchase. Thanks!
Thanks, Deb. I bet you’d enjoy it!
