Yummy Stories: Six Stories to Stimulate Your Mind and Appetite
Author: Lil Alexander
Genre: Fiction, Childrens
Release: January 9, 2015
Publisher: Amazon Digital Services, Inc.
Yummy Stories is a delightful collection of six fun, modern folk and fairy tales centered on healthy eating – perfect for children ages 4 to 8 (including picky eaters and fussy eaters). The stories are accompanied by rich, entertaining artwork. Children will discover broccoli forests, mushroom houses, clouds of cauliflower, exciting adventures (always positive), and many fascinating and believable characters: a very funny singing pea, a hungry dinosaur, three squabbling fairies, a gluttonous giant, a princess, and a knight from Strawberryland, a mighty emperor who simply adored… cabbage.

So, Yummy Stories: Stimulate Your Mind and Appetite, is a children’s book written by Lil L. Alexander and illustrated wonderfully by Anda Cofaru. It is filled with stories about vegetables and fruits.
Each story is told as a fairy tale. I had my daughter read the book to me so I could get her reaction. At first, she thought it was going to be too babyish, but after she started reading, she really got into the stories. She liked how the storylines were based on food. In fact, it made us hungry reading!
I liked how there was a twist in several stories, like the Pea and the Princess story; you might be reminded of Jack and the Beanstalk. We voted The Three Garden Fairies as our favorite. This story is about a man and his dog who find a bridge to an enchanted woods. They discover three fairies who are quarreling about who should be crowned queen. A close second would be The Strawberry That Liked to Brag. This is an interactive story where the ending depends on what the reader decides. How cool is that?
All of the stories are cleverly written with rhymes that really are better read aloud, so grab your child and enjoy a great read-then make sure you eat all your vegetables!
