My thoughts
Janie is a very successful executive who has always put her career first before everything else. The thought of becoming a new mom has her close to falling apart. In desperation, she whispers a little prayer for help. She never expects that it will be answered.
This movie appealed to me the second I read the description. I am one of those women who has plans for everything.
I know exactly what needs to be done and when and I am driven to take care of it the way I intended. And, like Janie, I forget that it’s not me that’s in charge; it’s God.
Bible verses
If you’re familiar with your Bible verses, you’ll recognize the similarities to Mary and Martha (Luke 10, 38-42). Jesus visits Mary and Martha’s home and while Mary sits calmly at his feet to learn, Martha runs around like a crazy person trying to do “all the things” that need to be done.
Janie is Martha and she needs to remember the important things before it’s too late. As you might have guessed, God answers her little prayer for help with her an angel.
To help her understand she needs to slow down and focus on the important things, her angel fast forwards her life to show her what it will be if she doesn’t change. But, will she pay attention?
To say that I loved this movie would be putting it lightly. I related to it from the beginning and Janie made me smile, laugh and wish I could shake some sense into her.
This movie is ideal for anyone who struggles to let go and let God. It’s a wonderful reminder that it’s OK not to always be in control.
