Cliffhanger by Michael R. French

I’ve always enjoyed dystopian fiction because it makes me think about where our world may end up in the future. While some of the stories I’ve read are set hundreds of years in the future, I really love those that are set just a few years ahead of where we are today.

About Cliffhanger

My thoughts on Cliffhanger

The central character is Cliffhanger by Michael R. French is Britt, a young woman in high school who has decided to run for class president against a very popular young man that everyone is convinced will win.

Brit is definitely the underdog and it seems as though her opponent, Matthew, has everything going for him. But, it also seems like he has a lot that he’s hiding. And, that inspires Brit to find out more.

The more she tries to dig deeper into what’s really going on, the more powerful people around her want her to stop.

With the help of a teacher and an anonymous friend, she starts to learn that there is a lot more behind Matthew and his campaign. And, that there are a lot of very powerful people backing his campaign with their own hidden agenda.

If you enjoy political intrigue with a twist, Cliffhanger is definitely a book you need to read. Once I started reading it, I had a really hard time putting it down.

Every page seemed to reveal one more clue to what was really going on in the story. And, I couldn’t wait to figure out how it all came together.

Finally, as someone who is really into politics. I was quite impressed by Michael R. French’s ability to mirror what is probably going on today. Definitely a fascinating read.
