Easter Chocolate Truffles Recipe

Many of the Easter Chocolate Truffles recipes I see make the truffles in an egg shape. You can certainly do that if you want to make Easter egg truffles. I found that making them in a ball was much simpler.

This will soon become one of your favorite Easter desserts. They taste so much better than chocolate eggs from the store.

It’s one of my favorite easy recipes because it uses just a few ingredients.

How do I make them in an egg shape?

Most people use an Easter egg mold. You can try forming the Easter egg Oreo truffles by hand. Or make truffle balls like these.

What type of melted chocolate should I use?

This Easter chocolate truffles recipe uses white chocolate chips so that you can dye the melted chocolate pastel colors for Easter. Or, you can use another color of food dye to customize it for another holiday.

It’s easiest to dye a white coating.

This recipe uses Golden Oreos so that they match the Easter theme. If you use traditional Oreos, you will have a dark center. This would work well with peppermint and dark chocolate for Christmas.

How to make Easter chocolate truffles

  • In a food processor, place Oreos and grind them into fine crumbs. Depending on the size of your food processor, you may need to do this in two batches.
  • Add in room-temperature cream cheese once you have all the crushed cookie crumbs. If cream cheese is not at room temperature, you can microwave it for 20-30 seconds. You want to make sure that the cream cheese is not hot to the touch, or your mixture will come out runny.

  • Combine the crushed cookies with the cream cheese. When the dough comes together in a ball, stop combining.

  • Remove the blade and fold in sprinkles using a spatula.
  • Using a cookie scoop, scoop the truffles mixture, and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment or waxed paper.
  • Place the dough into the freezer for 10-15 minutes until the dough is slightly hardened and has dried out a bit. TIP: You don’t want the mixture to freeze completely.

a bowl of melted white chocolate

  • Microwave white chocolate in a mixing bowl for 30 seconds. Stir and put back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. Stir until all the chips are melted and the white chocolate mixture is smooth. You can use a small saucepan or double boiler to melt the chocolate candy coating.

Tips for making Easter Chocolate Truffles recipe

If your chocolate is a muddy color, you have cooked it too long.

If you are using food coloring, add it slowly until you achieve the desired color.

Gel food coloring will make more vibrant colors rather than pastels.

Use a fork or candy dipping tools to dip the Oreo truffles into the chocolate mixture.

Make vibrant swirls on the top using piping bags filled with the remaining chocolate dyed different colors.

Be sure to place the Oreo truffles in the fridge for the chocolate to harden completely.

For marbled Easter egg truffles, dip them into two different candy coating colors.

Remove from the fridge about 15 minutes before serving so that they are not too hard.
